I haven't posted for a while as I have been away for a few days.
We were down in Torquay for a friend's wedding. My friend Neil has been a good friend of mine since I was four, and we were at school together from then until we were 16. Unfortunately we lost touch when I moved away from my home town, but we got back in touch a few years ago.
The wedding was lovely and the weather was fantastic; annoyingly we had not packed for good weather and I was wearing wool trousers!
This was a good example of why we should not rely on our weather forecasts; as it had been forecast rain for about a week, and was not due to stop all weekend. But again the weather was fantastic when we got to Bournemouth to stay with a cousin over the weekend.
My wife and I also decided that it is easier being the bride and groom at a wedding, because you know what is going on. We didn't know many people there (my wife only knew the groom), there were a few people that I went to school with who I never really socialised with and my friend's parents were there, but these were all people that I hadn't seen for a LONG time. So with this in mind, we did feel like 5th wheels at times, but on the whole everyone made us feel very welcome.
More than anything it was wonderful to be there sharing Neil's special day with him, and he and his bride looked very happy. We wish them all the best for the future.
