Smoke-Free Britain

Hurrah! The smoking ban is finally here!
I know I'm not the only person who was really looking forward to going out and not coming home smelling of stale cigarette smoke. Especially being a non-smoker I don't appreciate smelling like OTHER PEOPLE'S cigarette smoke.
So on Sunday afternoon, the first day of the smoking ban, my wife and I went out for a drink with a couple of friends to celebrate smoke-free pubs. One of our friends and I discovered a potential downside to the lovely clean air - children! I can't remember the last time I was in Sleepers on a Sunday afternoon, but there did seem to be an influx of crying children in there. If this is the result of making pubs smoke free, then bring back smoking!
Don't get me wrong, I like children and I am looking forward to having children of my own, but I think that there is a time and a place for children, and I don't like it when other parents inflict their children on you. A pub is an adult environment, when I was young(er) you were not allowed to step foot in a pub until you were 14 (you couldn't drink of course, unless you had really good fake ID - I didn't, and looked young for my age!) what happened to this law?
When I go to a pub, I am going to spend time with adults, and I don't want to have to watch what I talk about and worry about the language I use. By no means am I a dirty potty mouth, but I do use a fair amount of bad language. I have to watch myself during rehearsals as there are a number of children within our theatre group and I sometimes forget that they are there. I don't expect to run that risk in a pub.
Oh well, maybe I'll start going to nightclubs more often, children DEFINITELY aren't allowed in there! Or that could be a good excuse to go to a strip club, what do you reckon, do you think my wife would buy it?
